Tank Heating

We have seen several systems where the entire RFO tank is heated. We recommend better alternatives for RFO preheating. In other processes, tank heating is used for water separation and fuel distillation. Used oil will have a small amount of water in a heterogeneous mixture. Heating the tank will promote separation of the water which when enough has separated will cause firing issues with the asphalt burner. It is also more costly to heat the entire tank due to energy losses and will could increase the risk of flash fire due to vapors from the heated RFO.
