RFO PreHeater
By capturing the generator's waste heat and transferring it to the RFO using the coolant system, significant fuel savings can be achieved.
A 400 kW generator can reject upwards of 1 MMBTU (293 kW) of heat through its coolant system per hour. An asphalt plant burning 600 gallons per hour (2271 l/hr) would require less than 410 MBTU (120kW) to meet appropriate RFO burning temperature of 180°F (82°C).
Advantages over Element Heaters
Reduced Generator Load: By using waste heat, the asphalt plant requires less fuel from the generator, lowering overall fuel consumption.
Improved Temperature Control: Coolant systems provide more precise temperature control compared to element heaters, minimizing the risk of overheating the RFO, vapor locking the pump, and damaging the fuel lines.
